MEET VOLUNTEERS

Home Swim Meets

Announcer (1)

Keep the meet moving along while also keeping swimmers and parents informed and entertained along the way. The only job requirements are enthusiasm, team spirit, and a rocking music catalog on your phone!

Automation/Results (3)

Help us keep track of swimmers' times and record the meet results. The only math required is picking the middle time of 3 and adding up points. Best of all, you'll be working in the shade and allowed to sit down for the entire meet!

Concessions & Spirit Wear Sales (4)

Keep the masses fed and outfitted in the latest Fins team gear. This is a fun way to interact with Fins families, meet the visiting team, and help raise us money! Added bonus - your shift only lasts for half of the meet.

Head Timer (1)

Are you a seasoned timer who thrives under pressure and can work two stop watches simultaneously? You'll brief the timers before the meet, make sure they're ready and in position for every heat, and quickly pass them a working watch in case of a malfunction or missed start.

Hospitality (2)

Mingle with coaches, officials, and volunteers as you keep them nourished and hydrated during the halftime break. Best of all, the job lasts all of 20 minutes from start to finish!

Ice Pick-up (1)

Help us make sure the beverages for concessions & hospitality stay cold all morning (or evening) by bringing us 8 large bags of ice prior to the meet. We'll not only reimburse you on the spot, we'll also unload the ice for you!

Kid Wranglers (3)

The coaches send you swimmers, you line them up by their assigned lanes, and then get them to the starting block in time for their race. A great way to meet the swimmers and you get a meet program!

Referee (1)

As the final authority over the conduct of the meet and the safety of all swimmers, you'll work with team reps, coaches, officials, and other volunteers to ensure the meet is run safely, fairly, and efficiently in accordance with MCSL rules. Training and certification are required, and previous officiating experience is strongly recommended.

Runners (2)

Ensure the meet runs smoothly and swimmers' times are recorded by delivering timer sheets to the automation table during the first or second half of the meet. It's a great way for parents to get in some steps or students to rack up SSL hours!

Set-up (2)

Help us transform the pool by moving chairs and tables, putting up canopies, setting up the spirit wear and concessions tables, and bringing supplies to the automation table.

Stroke & Turn Officials (2)

Observe assigned lanes to ensure swimmers comply with the stroke, turn, kick, and finish rules for each event. In the case of any observed infractions, consult with the referee to determine whether a disqualification is required. Requires training and certification.

Timers (9)

Best view of the pool and all you need are comfortable shoes, a moderate attention span, and a trigger-fast thumb. The Head Timer will explain the rest.
